Kitchen Witch Wednesday: Rose Cardamom Cakes

To test out the kitchen in my new apartment, I made the cardinal mistake of baking. The best way to check out a new oven is by baking something with which you're most familiar. Instead of doing that, I tried a recipe I've never made before AND made about 5 changes to it. And yet, somehow, everything turned out delicious?

So here's to my new favorite, easy-peasy recipe for a delicious tea-time snack! Behold, my own personal recipe for my Rose Cardamom Cakes!

Rose as I've mentioned in the past, is used in spells for psychic powers, healing, divination, luck, protection, and love. Cardamom is used for spells of lust and love. So these cakes could make the perfect snack for someone whose heart you're trying to win!

Rose Cardamom Cakes:

Ingredients:

Cardamom Cake:

- 1 3/4 cup flour

- 2 tsp. baking powder

- 1 tsp. baking soda

- 3 tsp. cardamom

- 3/4 cup sugar

- 1 egg

- 3/4 cup sour cream

- 1 stick of butter

- 1/4 cup milk

Rose Glaze:

- 2 cups powdered sugar

- 4 tbsp. rose syrup

- dried rose petals (for decoration)

Directions:

First, mix all the dry ingredients in one bowl, and all of the wet ingredients in another. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet, then portion it out into a greased mini loaf baking pan--about 1/4 cup per cake.

Bake at 350 F for 15-20 mins. Check with a knife through the center to see when they've finished. If the knife comes out perfectly clean, they're done.

Mix together the powdered sugar and rose syrup in a small bowl and drizzle it over top. Then you can sprinkle them with a little more cardamom and some dried rose petals for decoration!
